Embroidered Art

I don't embroider often and I don't always have the patience for it but Singapore based artist Izziyana Suhaimi really inspires me and makes me want to dig out my sewing box with all my threads in it and get embroidering! Her artwork is beautiful and very detailed. She intricately, incorporates embroidery in to her gorgeous pencil drawings and fills in spaces with embroidered patterns and shapes which create a source of striking colour.

Cultured Carpets

Based in New Mexico, Robin Gray is a fresh and creative designer specializing in carpets and rugs. Her designs look traditional but are made contemporary with the use of charming colours and a range of textures and weaving methods. She incorporates many techniques from the native culture which is past down through generations and much of her materials and designs are made and sourced in Mexico, India and the Middle East. She ensures there is no child labour involved in the creation of her designs and that all adults are treat fairly.

Sculpture

These really are some amazing sculptures by Korean born artist, Soo Sunny Park...

If I had a disco room in my house this would be it...

Colourful Flowers

You have probably gathered that I love floral artwork of all kinds! Kristy Gammill's work is simply beautiful! Her paintings are bursting with lots of bright, vivid colours and I love the drippy effect that she creates in a lot of her work.

Digital Fabric Prints

Here are the floral fabric designs I did today!

Floral Pattern

Here is a pattern design I have been working on today. Hope you like it!

Collaging Objects

I am really interested in John Breeds work as he has a very unique style which is rather unusual. I love his work involving large quantities of strange objects arranged in a trashy, collaged order.

This piece involved animal bones, artificial bones and skulls

These are my favourite! These amazing wall sculptures were created for Breuninger Shoe Salon.

Kaleidoscope Patterns

Have a look at these gorgeous wallpaper designs by Kristen Reger. I love the kaleidoscope effect and the her choice of colours she uses with in these designs, not too bright but there is a varied selection of colours used that work lovely together. One of these designs would look class on my bedroom wall!

Botanical Illustration

Katie Scott is a London based illustrator of botanical and organic subjects. I love how detailed this style of illustration is and how very scientific her drawings are.

Nick Thomm

I am loving these psychedelic designs by Melbourne based artist Nick Thomm. He creates amazing images using digital artwork placed on top of mulitcoloured and neon backdrops which are packed full of vivid illustrations and floral images. I love the electronic effect he uses in his work and how he mixes in pretty pink flowers behind something which isn't so pretty, for example; the spiked, metal mask over the top of a lovely bunch of flowers. I just love the contrast between the different subjects and it works so well together!

Floral Wallpaper

Abigail Borg is a surface pattern designer I recently stumbled across, whilst researching in my last project. Her vintage inspired designs and botanical influenced illustrations are simply beautiful. Sometimes I get bored of the same old flower designs you see on the high street but Abigail's work is different. I love her style of illustration and how busy and vibrant her designs are. The tropical colour palettes she chooses work wonders and her intricate hand drawings are stunning.

Quilling

Quilling is an art form which consists of using paper which is rolled, shaped and glued together to create decorative designs. Yulia Brodskaya is an absolute genius and a master of quilling. Her work is amazing and so intricate I couldn't believe my eyes when I realized it was quilling. The main thing I love about her work is how well she can capture the facial expressions in her portraits and its all by using paper. I really want to give it a go myself but, I don't think I could have the patience for it!
