Deformed Faces
German based artist Annegret Soltau creates a reflection on identity through her work by collaging and manipulating photographs of her self. Throughout her work in the series Selbst (self) she uses black thread by tying it around her face to deform her facial features then photographs herself. With the outcome of the photo she would then stitch over it to create a filigree of threads over her face.
Another interesting series of work by Solatau is the series Mutter-Glück (Motherhood) which involves photographs of a mother with her daughter and son. This is another collection of work which is based on manipulating and sewing over the tops of photographs to create a deformed face.
Here's a few more from various series of work by Annegret Soltau...

Catherine O'Leary
I stumbled across textiles designer, Catherine O'Leary and I thought how beautiful her work was so I had to share! She handcrafts all of her designs using wool, silk and traditional felting methods. I've only ever made felt beads for jewellery but this is taking felting to the next level!
Surrealistic Illustrations
The vivid and paradoxical work of Kustaa Saksi, an Amsterdam based artist who concentrates most of his work on distorting what is real and what is not. Imaginative illustrations of worlds full of hidden messages, surrealistic landscapes and strange characters. I find his work extremely interesting because of the in-depth detail of each illustration and the meanings behind them which seem messy but are unusually clear to understand.

Colourful Stairs
After looking up artist Jim Lambie; a previous post I wrote about, I have been slightly obsessed with colourful stairs and floor spaces. I really wish I had a few spare staircases lying around my house that I could paint and decorate!
Here's a few of my favorites that I have found on Pinterest by various artists...

Illustrated Creatures
London based artist Louise McNaught creates beautiful masterpieces which involve wildlife and spiritual aspects. She sees art as an inner ability to outwardly express our ancient tendencies. Her work involves alot of Celtic type creatures such as owls, stags and deer and you can see in her work that she is interested in the spiritual meaning behind animals. I love the neon colours she uses on top of her fine pencil and ink drawings and the emotions that you can see from the animals.
